Maine Passive House built two cabins designed by Kaplan Thompson Architects on a family property in Otisfield, Maine. The cabins will host family and friends during the summer months. To get the real "cabin feeling", the cabins are uninsulated and have single pane glass so you can hear the rain on the roof and the wind blowing outside.
As much as possible the materials used were sourced from local wood mills and some were milled from trees that were cut on the property. Windows and doors were custom made and native plants were used for landscaping. Although rustic in look, both cabins have full bathrooms, security systems, and wifi.
