Albany Township Homestead
Off grid in the woods
Location: Albany, Maine
Year Completed:2020
Gross Floor Area: 1347 sq ft
Design: Owner and Maine Passive House
This remote home is located off grid in the mountains of Western Maine. Situated at the top of a field it has spectacular views, and sits protected at the edge of the forest. The owner has built multiple homes over the years, and worked with us on the design. We built a passive house envelope so the energy needed to run the home can primarily be covered by on site solar generated power. The building has propane heat as back up. It features a large open concept living area and a primary bedroom and bath. It has large overhangs for shading, and is designed for lots of time to be spent outside, with a screened porch, exterior gear storage and an expansive deck.
