The Hurricane Island Outward Bound School (HIOBS) staff house in Newry, Maine was a meaningful project for the Maine Passive House team. Our lead carpenter on the project previously worked for Outward Bound in Colorado, and our founder once spent a winter living at the old staff house. This new building provides essential support for HIOBS operations, housing a shared kitchen, common space, bathrooms, and laundry facilities, with surrounding cabins serving as staff sleeping quarters.
