The owner of this beautifully constructed chalet spends a lot of time outside and was looking to add some outdoor space while also getting protection from the elements, and without breaking the bank. The solution was a simple 10 foot by 22 foot porch. Maine Passive House used a simple concept of frost protected floating concrete pads for footings, a pressure treated deck with cedar decking and locally sourced pine timbers for the “frame” and rafters. The result is a great place to enjoy the morning coffee, to grill or a place to dry out your gear after a day outdoors.
